Hello we are in need of some help. Was not sure if we should post in different areas or if we can post all questions here in one spot. So here it goes:

1) We want to level the spa wall so it gives it a more continues look. The PB said that it will not spill over just run down in certain spots. Is there a way to make it run over the top more fluidly?

2) Is it worth it to put in a dedicated pool vacuum port or should we just get a robot? Will the robot accomplish the same thing?

3) We want to do 4 pentair laminars. Do we need another return or can we plumb it in to the existing equipment? We are thinking of getting another pump to run them. If we do this were would it go? Also we have an intellicenter

4) Is pool solar worth it? We are in Los Angeles CA

5) is $4500 for bubbler in new baja shelf about right? The deck will be removed down to dirt

Im sure more will come up along the way as we continue remodel.

Thank you all!

You all are the best for information so what is the best way for us to say thank you for the assistance?

1) Keep the spillover are narrow < 12" wide. The water will rise in the spa and you will have a short water fall. Mine is a bit less than a foot wide and my spa is even with the pool. See avatar on the left. It works even with low flow rates of a VS pump.

2) Get a robot. Will clean much better and use less energy.

3) Keep in mind that laminars need 12-15 GPM/ft. So depending on how wide you get them, the plumbing and pump may or may not support it.

4) Definitely worth it.

5) Don't know

Be aware that the laminars aren't serviceable so need to be replaced when they fail.

Please explain in more detail of “level the spa”.
Are you looking to have the spa the same level as the deck and remove the +6” that it is currently at? Or do you want the spa and pool water level the same? (see picture provided)
Both can be achieved.

Thank you so much for the info I greatly appreciate it.

just reducing the height of where the red is to match the spillway. We do not really care about loosing the waterfall sound or affect.

Thank you. I will read through this.

You can have the area highlighted area removed and still have the water spill over evenly, the comment about only running over in certain spots will only happen if the work is done incorrectly and out of level.
thank you. is there anything other then level that i need to watch for? thanks again!

Hi there,

I can only comment on #2. We do have a vacuum line but never use it. Since we had the pool built, we have been using a Maytronics Dolphin robot. Its been working great for over 2.5 years. We have a rectangular pool and the robot does a very good job of picking up any debris and climbing the walls to 'brush' the sides and up to the tile. We also brush ourselves but the robot does a pretty good job by itself.
