Re-Plumbing Pool Questions

We currently bought a new heater (NG Raypak) and Pool Pump (IntelliFlo Variable Speed Pump) and I thought this would be a good time to re-plumb all of the piping. I want to remove an old chlorination and move the SWG to be after the heater. I also bought a few new check values and 3 way vales.

The question I have is on proper system plumbing. I looked through the Pool School on PVC repair which I feel comfortable with; It's just knowing all the parts and configuration I might still need.

Should the booster pump intake come from the pool inline instead of after going through the heater to the return line?
Do I need to run a bypass line around the heater?
And anything other that looks out of place or missed.

The pool was in bad shape when we purchased the house, so i'm not sure if the current pipe line is correct. Any guidance would be wonderful.

Thank you,

T,

I would never install a pump without pump unions.. They make it easier to install the pump and keep you from having leaks at the threaded input and output connections.

You can't buy them at home depot.. they look like this... Amazon.com: 2 PACK -CMP Hi-Temp Union 2" inch 2MIP x 2" inch PVC Whisperflo & Intelliflo - 2 PACK: Garden & Outdoor

Unless you plan to run the IntelliFlo at full speed, I doubt you would ever need a heater bypass.. But... heaters add about 500 RPM to the speed you need to run your salt cell. So adding a bypass, and valve, would allow you to take the heater out of service in the summer when you don't really need it.

Is the booster pump for your pool cleaner?

Thanks,

Jim R.
