I’m on day 5 of my slam process. I had neglected my pool last fall and as a result had a lot of algae and sludge up until last week . I opted to drain, vacuum, power wash and refill pool. Also cleaned out the filter and power washed the skimmer. Started my slam with pH of 7.2, CYA 30, TA 85, CH is low at 160. My SLAM FC is 14 per Pool Math. First 3 days I checked and keep my FC at a minimum of 14 every 3 or 4 hours ( tested enough to where I had to buy more CL titration solution for my K2006 kit). I run my robot twice a day and spray it out. For the past 2 days my OCLT is 1.5. I poured over 18 gallons of 10% bleach into this pool and am down to my last 4 gallons before I have to buy more. (30k pool in north Texas heat with no shade). Since I refilled by pool, everything visible seems clear. Am I missing a step? I saw some threads where people are backwashing but ived read the SLAM process 2 times and there is not mention of that for a DE filter. Only that adding DE to a sand filter would help speed things up, but I have a FNS 60plus. I plan to convert to SWCG (RJ60+) but would like to get my chlorine stabilized so I can set my TA and CH and then convert. Tired of pouring money into this pool for the slam. TIA for any SLAM clarification.
