Helping in laws with their new house that has a de filter. It’s a nautilus fns 36. We ordered a complete grid assembly from amazon. The kicker is the grids inside were 24” making it 48sq ft. Are the grids suppose to sit on bottom? The 36 ones we bought are sitting off the bottom due to the higher pipe that the manifold clips to

The grids should be clamped top and bottom between the two plastic retainers. If they're only attached at one end, they'll blow off and you'll shoot DE into the pool. Send them back and get the right grids.
They are clamped together with two long rods from the manifold to bottom plate. I think my question wasn’t clear after I re read my post.
Once you put the grid assembly in does it sit on the bottom of the housing? The manifold goes on a big pipe and once attached to it does the rest of the assembly sit on bottom or is it suspended off the bottom
