Pump started out strong, but then weaken and pressure went high

After the winter, I restarted the pool.
I cleaned the filter, lot of green algae.
The pump started strong, pressure about 18. But after 15minutes the pressure went to 30, and water flow very weak. If I turned the pump off and start again, same thing happen. I tried both bottom or skimmer water in selection, no difference.
What should I do? Please help.

Did you clean your filter? With algae you'll be doing this frequently and adding lots of chlorine.
Post your latest test results.
What test kit do you use?
Fill out your signature with all your equipment for all to see.
Have you performed the OCLT?

That is the typical failure mode when you have algae...

The pump works when the filter is clean and then as the filter picks up more algae, it is harder to push water through the filter and the pressure goes up.

When you shut the pump off, some of the dirt falls to the bottom of the filter, and it appears to work again, but only for a short period of time.

You can continue to go to the pool store, or you can take a read through our pool school and learn how we do things..

Thanks for your explanation, it makes sense. I did clean out a bunch of leaves. I will go get liquid chlorine and clean the filter again, will update everyone.
