When I turn in my 1.5 HP Hayward pump it sounds a little lower pitched than normal, smokes a little, then runs fine.
It's 7 years old. I'm in Michigan I run it only during the summer. On average maybe an hour or two a day.
Is there a component I should look to replace? If it's the motor it looks like for around $150 more I could grab the CaliMar 1.5 VSP. This seems like the way to go esp because I have solar panels now so the lower kWh would offset most of the cost.
Any advice is welcome, especially because my son's Birthday Party is in a few days and I need a functional pool!
