Hello,

I am planning on replacing my 1.0 HP Pentair Single speed pump with a variable speed. I am thinking of getting a Pentair SuperFlo VS Variable Speed Pool Pump, 1 1/2 Horsepower. Here are my specifics:
  • 110V
  • 1.5" Piping
  • Equipment pad 2 feet above pool deck and about 40 feet away
  • Existing sand filter says 52 GPM flow rate
  • One slide but no water features
  • Raypak gas heater
  • 2 pool skimmers and 1 floor drain, 3 return jets
Any thoughts on my pump selection or things I should consider? Everything is currently working fine, I am looking to replace only for a quieter more cost efficient pump.

Also any thoughts on piping improvements or other upgrades based on my setup?

Thank you in advance!

Welcome to TFP.

The Superflo VST pump sounds fine for you.

I would consider replacing your Trichlor chlorinator with a SWG.

And if your ball valves are starting to stick replacing them with diverter valves.

I would replace the flex PVC with solid PVC and move the pump and other equipment to straighten out some of the pipe runs.

Thanks, great advice
