I was told by my pool maintenance company that running with a dry pump won't harm the pump because the pump is air cooled not water cooled. I think he's giving me a line of bull and I need to know how to disprove his theory that you can run a pump without water and not cause damage. My pump is the old fashioned 1hp type, not the newer variable speed, intelipump. Thank you!
Pump ran dry. Pool maintenance company says that can't hurt pump. They're not responsible.

The motor end is air cooled, but you will damage the wet end seal in the pump most definitely if run for a long period dry.

Your pool maintenance company sounds like a band of monkies lying to get out of trouble. Perhaps they should call pentair and Hayward with their advanced knowledge and tell them to rewrite their manuals because they are written wrong…/sarcasm off
