Pump lid coming off?

My pump lid keeps coming off. This has happened at least 2 times to me now. The first time I was backwashing my filter so I was standing right there. I dont actually remember if I was turning the pump on or off but when I did the lid just went pop water spilled out of the basket and I thought I was crazy and just didn't tighten the lid enough and moved on.

However this morning I woke up and heard my pump much louder than I ever did. I turned it off from the app and went and looked. The lid was upside down next to the pump assembly. I know that I tightened it properly because it has just been me out at the pad since backwashing (currently trying to knock down an algae bloom).

I will add my pool automation basically turns the pump off at 11:59 and back on at 12:01.

Is this a sign of a bad O-Ring?

Okay read other threads on this it seems like there could be air getting into the filter. From this link: Strainer Basket Lid Blows Off When Turning Off Filter Pump

How do I check for a suction side leak? Does this mean a leak after the filter and in the pump? Or is this really just a air coming in through the hose? IF its the latter then I know exactly what is causing that and I will adjust my behavior or just bleed air out of the basket. I have been using a manual vacuum as my robot is in for repairs and I use the suction to clear all the air out of the vacuum line by doing like 50% water 50% air holding the hose near my leaf canister.

The lid itself could be the source of your suction leak. Is the rubber o-ring in good shape? Is it lubricated? It looks like there is a lot of gunk and debris on the lid and where it goes on the pump. Gotta get that cleaned up for the lid to seat proper and make a good seal
