How's it going, I have a sand shark 37 gpm pump and 14" sand filter. My problem now is my pressure is only at 5 psi and has been since I've been using it. Is that considered low? And my friend installed it for me and after inspecting it I see that the gasket or O-ring in the picture is probably not suppose to be there. Where is it suppose to be. Would that cause my pressure to be lowered? What should thpressurebe at? My Manual doesn't state it and company is lousy.thank y

Thanks for the response, this is my first pool so don't really know how it should feel but it does feel like it's pumping good. I was just worried about the low psi. I did change the location of that gasket to the lip of the multivalve.no increase in pressure. I just realized that my standpipe is different then most of the ones I see. It doesn't have the fingers. Is this a issue or an old style?

If you feel firm and forceful flow from the return that 5 psi on your filter should be considered your clean pressure. When it rises to 6-7 backwash your filter.

If your standpipe was in wrong you would be getting sand shot back into your pool.
