Pump issue or not?

Hi all. Our new pool was just completed in March and I’ve been leaning on these forums quite a bit to make sure everything is running smoothly. Had something happen this evening that I wanted to bounce off the experts. We were using the spa and after 30 minutes or so, the pump shut off and restarted itself. There were no alerts on the ScreenLogic app other than a low flow alert from the Intellichlor, which makes sense given the pump shut off. After five minutes I switched it back to pool mode. Everything seems to be running normally, however I’ve noticed that the pump is now no longer having to work as hard as it previously was in pool mode to maintain its programmed flow rate. We’ve been running it at 30 GPM, which had been running the pump at 1,850 RPM. Since the random shut off earlier, it is now running about 100 RPM slower at 30 GPM. I also noticed that the filter pressure is now at 8, when it had been at 10 when running at these rates before. Any ideas? Really appreciate the help.

Welcome to TFP.

Do you normally run your pump 24/7? When was the last time you cleaned your filter? Have you cleaned the filter since the pool started in March?

If the pump had not been shutdown in a while then when it did stop dirt on your filter settled off the cartridge onto the bottom. This had the effect of cleaning your filter off which reduced the pressure.

I can’t guess why your pump glitched. Wait and see if it reoccurs. I don't think the filter or pump change is a problem.
