In desperate need of help/advice. After 3 weeks of pool not clearing I finally hired a guy to come and change the sand last Friday. Several issues. First, since he serviced it whenever i turn the pump off all the water in the pump drains which it never did before. When i turn back on it will take at least a minute for the water to fill back into the pump and work accordingly. Second, I am now seeing dirt or sand on the pool floor under the return jets which never happened before. Finally a few days after he changed the sand the water was not clearing up so he put 2 of his own pump/filters in to help (one in deep one in shallow) and that cleared everything up for most part. When he took his equipment out the other day he said dirty water spilled back into pool and now its back to being cloudy. Hes telling me my filter is no good which I'm not buying because this has never been an issue. Just had the water tested today and every thing is good Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sounds like you have more than one things happening. Water leaving the pump pot when the system is off means air is getting into your system somewhere. Check everything very closely on the pad. Something is loose or not sealed as it should be. Sand under the return jets, that's probably a damaged or improperly connected lateral in the bottom of the filter. Since this tech changed the sand, there's no telling if he was careful when pouring 200 - 300 lbs of sand back in and may have damaged a lateral. The only way to know is to empty the filter and check. As for the water clarity, by now it may be trying to become algae. Hard to know if it was starting before all the work or if the work just pushed it into overdrive. But you'll definitely want to get the filter looked at to try and stop that sand from getting into the pool.

Thanks pool store did mention air and I will try and get someone to check filter asap. Fact is that I opened pool may 9th water never cleared up. This is before filter was serviced which has never taken this long. Thanks again
