Problem w/ 5 year old Cover Pools Inc - Pool Cover

I have had good luck with this Cover Pools "hidden tray" pool cover - since it was installed in 2013.

But late last fall one of the far side guide ropes broke? The SW Michigan CP dealer wanted to come out and charge a lot of $$ to fix it ... I am a retired general contractor and normally get decent pricing. They ended up not being very responsive so I put it off till this spring.

I just found out that CP has a new model stainless steel drive motor system and it also uses SS cables instead of the rope.

Has anyone seen or used this new Cover Pools T4 SS motor? I have the Save T-3 Big Red.

Also - trying to find another Cover Pools dealer or tech who can do this work other than the West Michigan dealer. Indianapolis has one - Jack's Pool Service.

Let me know any feedback.

I don't have a Coverstar brand autocover, mine is by Pool Cover Specialists. Currently we are waiting on new stainless cover ropes to replace our 8 year old fiber ropes. And you're so right- they have us over a barrel with the labor charges, eh?

There have been a few folks here who have written posts about changing their own ropes but none I recall being the stainless ones. I would be curious as to how difficult this will be compared to the fiber ropes which folks managed if they were fairly handy.

Look around online for some of the manuals for the technicians. I've seen some in the past and they may be of help to you?
