I have confirmed my Calimar 3hp VS pump runs the priming program at 12:00 am. My priming program is set for 3000 rpm and 2 minutes. That speed isn't programmed anywher else, or that length of time. I had a suspicion something odd was going based on comments from the neighbor and my wife. Last night I watched the clock rollover to 00:00 and the pump sped up making considerably more noise than my usual 1200 rpm at night.

Is this something I missed about VSP's?

I have the schedule starting at midnight 00:00. Schedule is: 1) 1200 rpm for twelve hours, 2) 2800 rpm for 6 hours, 3) 1200 rpm for 6 hours. Should I extend the schedule beyond 24 hours? Maybe move the schedule start?

First thing I'd try is moving the start of the schedule to some other time. If the pump then primes at the new time, you'll know it's the schedule that's causing it.

After that, I don't know. To me, it sounds like your pump is priming because it thinks it's being told to stop and then immediately restart at 00:00. But my pump's a different brand, so I don't know how to get your Calimar to just stay on continuously

+1.

If it won't let you adjust the start time because everyday 'starts' at midnight, add 12 hours to the clock so it thinks lunch is midnight. Then shift the schedule if you care which part runs when.

My Calimar doesn't re-prime unless I turn it off or stop it manually - or at least, I've never noticed it doing it.

In my experience, you cannot set a schedule beyond 24 hours (each of the 4 'slots' are speed and duration based, only 'slot 1' has a start time).

I'd try NewDude's idea - move the time forward 6 hours, then set slot 1 to your 2800 / 6hours, then slot 2 for 1200/18 and see if the same behavior exists.

Time for a follow-up...

I changed the program so that it starts at 12:00 PM rather than AM. I set my first period for 6 hours at 2500 rpm, and the second period to 18 hours at 1000 rpm. I couldn't add more time to the same or a new step, Every day at noon it runs at the priming speed for two minutes then goes into my cleaning speed cycle. Isn't really noticed during the day competing with the neighbor's ac unit. much better than a midnight howl.
