After attaching the vacuum head and flooding the hose, I plug the other end with my palm and get it into the skimmer asap.
That inevitably allows some air into the system, which messes with my pressure gauge (it clicks when there's air in the filter?!) not to mention my POCD (pool OCD) when I see air bubbles at the pump basket lid.
Now I'm on the hunt for a rubber stopper that will fit the end of the hose. That way I can plug the hose when it's in the pool, and release it underwater in the skimmer for an air-free vacuum.
Has anyone else done anything similar? Any suggestions on what to use / where to find a stopper?
