Hello everyone!

I had a pool put in last year with a SWG. Needless to say I am pretty new (green) at this. Was trying to maintain the pool blind last summer and it ended up rather cloudy and green. I sought help from a pool company and they gladly helped out and charged me what I assume was the industry standard price for that service. Afterwards, I winterized the pool successfully (no cracked or damaged pipes or skimmer). Fast forward to today. I stumbled upon TFP recently and concluded that I wish to learn to do my own testing and maintaining. I bought a Taylor K-2006 SALT test kit and have tested the Free and Combined Chlorine (0.2 ppm), and the CYA (20). Super low! Next is to download the Pool Math app and figure out the amount of chemicals I need to bring everything up to the right levels. Wish me luck.

Welcome 🤗
If you suspect you have algae (cloudy or green water) you need to do the
SLAM Process.
If you’re unsure you can do an
Overnight Chlorine Loss Test at target fc levels first.
Having cya around 30ppm is recommended for the slam.
Having Less than 30ppm will mean the sun consumes alot of your fc but Going much higher will require you to use more chlorine so lets confirm or deny any algae before increasing cya much more.

The water is definitely cloudy. I will attempt a SLAM. Thank you for your input.
