Pour in place coping

We have poured coping with Spanish lace and Kool Deck. It was pretty smooth when the forms were removed, but the deck crew went thru and diamond cut the expansion joints deeper . After that the lace was applied and you can't see any defects in the coping. The deck crew sprayed the foam forms before they poured my deck and used a vibrating tool when it was poured.

We went with pour and place coping since we are doing salt water. The edges are a lot rougher then we were thinking. Do you know the best way to get them smoother? We are going to have Sundeck or something similar applied to it as well.
thanks
Concrete can be smoothed with diamond grinding wheels and polished with diamond pads. It is very labor intensive and your contractor is not going to want to do it, but it is possible to do. Was their some expectation of smoothness written into the specifications of your contract?
