Hello,

Thanks to some great help from TFP, we have completed our SLAM! 16 days and 29 gallons of 12.5% Chlorine later and we are clear, our OCTL was 0.5 and our CC is < 0.5 🥳

Now, the SLAM directions say to let the FC level drift back to normal. Got that. I will welcome not checking the levels every 3 hours LOL. But... we are scheduled to close the pool the second week of October. How low should I let the Chlorine get since part of the closing directions are to raise it to SLAM levels a few days before? (Our SLAM level is 20ppm for reference.)

Also, when can I get accurate readings on our other values - TA, pH, CH, CYA? I really want to be sure the TA and pH are in line before closing if that's possible.

I welcome direction on the next steps for the two weeks we have left with this absolutely gorgeous pool!

Thanks!
Jen

Until u are ready to prep for closing just maintain the high fc target for your cya FC/CYA Levels
No need to try to maintain higher - although at cooler temps/less uv less fc will be consumed daily so it may take a while for fc to come down from slam level.
Enjoy the break lol 😆
The only test that you have to wait on is ph - fc needs to be 10ppm or below for that one to be accurate.
Ta & ch may sometimes be funny colors at high fc levels but the dramatic color change at the endpoint is what matters in those tests.
Enjoy your trouble free pool 😊

Would my CYA test be accurate right now? We have backwashed and added water several times so I want to verify that ASAP. I wasn’t sure if that would be affected by a FC level of 20.
Thanks

Not affected so long as the new water is circulated well.
