Possible Calcium Deposits

Hi - I have what looks like a calcium deposit in a corner of my pool as well as some spots on the horizontal surfaces. I did a SLAM a few weeks ago and have targeted FC to 5 to 7 since it was complete. Do I hit these with pumice stone? Anything else I should think about or being concerned with?

Separately, is there a "dream" level of CYA? I know it usually is in ranges but for SWG is it less work for the SWG if I have it higher. What is the downside of a ~70 CYA other than if I had to SLAM it would take more chlorine?

Lower your pH and keep it 7.2-7.4 until your TA comes down. Lowering both of these will lower your CSI to stop any further action.

I would trust your CH test. You might consider lower your CH by replacing some water.

If you can lower your CH and get your TA and pH down, so your CSI negative, and these are calcium scale, it will help them go away.

70 CYA is just fine. If you know how to manage your pool, not an issue. I maintain 80-90 to extend my cell life, but I keep FC 9-12. If you keep the right fc for your CYA, you won't get algae and won't have to SLAM.
