I have owned 2 in-ground pools for approx 30 years. Raised 2 daughters and am now within a year or 2 of selling the house and pool with it where I reside (for the last 23 years). Both pool setups are basically the same. Polaris 180, Rainbow Chlorinator, Sta-Rite Pump, and Tagalus sand filter. My 1st pool was a vinyl liner with a slide which I covered in the winter (winterized). My current Gunite pool I keep running year round. I do almost all the maintenance myself. But as time goes along I am always confronted with new problems that I haven't encountered before. Ive rebuilt my Polaris from the skeleton on up. Replaced every part of the clorinator(s) multiple times. Replaced my sand and broken laterals. Replaced the in-line valves of the 3 returns (main drain, and 2 side skimmers. I don't have a heater. I have rebuilt my directional valve, and replaced the spring (that's a trick), my sight glass, and all the parts involved with the chlorinators, as mentioned.
