Pool tabs are going to be scarce this year

Well the ongoing concern is that people will make a run on regular bleach once they realize the tabs are scarce.

But we can look to last years fiasco for consolation. We were told to sneeze into our elbows to reduce airborne germs and people hoarded TP, Proving the age old fact that people don’t know their butts from their elbows.

No telling what they might hoard if tabs are scarce. Pool noodles maybe ?

Test strips. Everyone will hoard test strips...

My neighbor gave me one of those giant doheny buckets full of trichlor tabs (his pool is dead & must be rebuilt - he was a tab only guy) so i now have a lifetime supply for vacations & such in my she shed.
My local pool store still has a steady stream of fresh 2.5 gal jugs of 10% so hopefully i’m shored up incase of swg failure this year.
That gloom & doom reference about the mfg of the tabs has been circulating a while. Maybe there will be less people this year with such ridiculously high cya = less water exchanges = a more happy planet 😊🌎 🌞

And I started it here last year. Biolab was wiped out by hurricane Laura. They produce 115 millions pounds of trichlor a year. They are one of the largest suppliers of trichlor in the USA.

From Aug 27th, 2020.

Biolab is owned by KIK Corp which owns Chlorox, Prestone, Comet, Spic'n Span and Chore Boy, among others.

I know its a real thing- i was referring to the way it’s been sensationalized via a gloom & doom headline - kinda like every other tid bit of news over the past year. This article does go on to explain there are other forms of pool sanitizers that were unaffected but most people don’t actually read the articles. I have overheard multiple people mention it (outside of this forum) like it’s the end of the world as we know it & pool owners should run around like their hair is on fire.
I guess some people just need something to freak out over.

The media has reached the point of driving histrionics on every subject. Nothing is put in perspective. And every news story is negative.

A vaccine for Covid has been developed! News reports: "Covid Vaccine in Short supply. Thousands still dying!"

I'm tired of it and stopped watching the news. I read a variety of websites and look for facts and ignore the hype.

Are tabs good forever? I have a large bucket I got when I first opened my pool 4+ seasons ago. Been sitting in the garage ever since I have used maybe 10 of them. I was thinking I could go on that UV/Ozone Facebook page and sell them for $10 a puck seeing as 1 puck will last them a month anyway, right?

I don't think they go bad, like liquid chlorine.
