Pool Step Gasket Install

I'm getting ready to install an liner in my pool (16x32 inground w/ plastic steps) and have a question about the gasket around the pool steps.

I bought a roll of neoprene gasket material and am not sure how to go about installing the gasket.

First, should I run the gasket in one continuous piece and bend it around the corners of the steps, or should I cut pieces for the 2 vertical and 1 horizontal surfaces and butt the ends together? And if so, what should I use to seal the corner joints?

And second, what should I use to hold the gasket onto the steps?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Upon closer (and cleaner) examination, the old gasket was installed in 3 pieces, with no additional sealant in the corners.

Any advise on best practice is appreciated! There doesn't seem to be much info on setting these gaskets, even from the manufacturer.
