Our pool is ready for plaster. We chose StoneScapes Mini pebble Aqua White. We need to be prepared for start-up. We are leaning towards Bicarbonate process. NPT does not show that as a startup option. We like bicarb due to it being easier on the plaster, leaving a smoother surface than acid startup. Is there a reason not to do Bicarb? Our fill water is low CH, only 50ppm and TA is 120ppm. Which means I would need to adjust TA up 230ppm or about 38# of Baking soda. Is this going to cause any adverse reactions with the pool chemistry when I need to add Calcium Chloride to bring CH up on day 2 once pH is below 8.2?
