Hello. I purchased a “stabilizer and conditioner” product at my local pool store (chain of stores here in Quebec Canada). Packaging recommended using 300g per 10,000 liters. My vinyl pool with a SWG is about 65,000 liters so I started off with 1.5KG (30 mins prior to posting this) and will then test in a week (current CYA is zero). Unlike posts and videos I’ve seen about either 1) pouring it into the skimmer or 2) putting it in a sock to slowly dissolve, the packaging recommended sprinkling it along the edges. After sprinkling it I see some accumulation and have read in posts after a few days it’ll be completely gone. The type of stabilizer is not mentioned on the packaging.

I am now wondering if it’s some “different” type of stabilizer and whether I should be worried in any way because instructions don’t match what I’ve seen in this forum. I brushed it around, most seems invisible but still see accumulation. I’ve read cyanuric acid is very weak and won’t damage a vinyl liner but still worried as mine is on its 13th year. The psi of the pool has not budged.

Any guidance or background info is appreciated.

Put it in a sock in the future. Brush around until it is gone, it can bleach the liner.
Thank for the reply. Will do in the future. My liner is pretty much faded given the age. I’ve brushed everything around. Can’t see much. More worried about damaging it as I’d like to delay changing it out for as long as possible. Bleaching is purely discoloration or does it actually lead to physical damage and deterioration?
