Hello all - Hope everyone's having a great day!

I have this idea for a forum where people can easily share and find trusted pool service recommendations. It would be great if it offered the functionality to search by state.

This idea came to me when I needed some specific help with my pool; for example, I wanted to find someone who could physically look at my pool and answer some questions. I tried a local service, but I wasn't impressed. Searching for other options turned out to be quite tedious and involved countless phone calls. I know there are many small companies and individuals out there offering these services, but finding them means sifting through sites like Angie's List, Thumbtack, and Yelp. While reading reviews can be helpful, a personal recommendation from someone on this site would carry a lot more weight with me.

It may take some time to mature, but in time I think this forum could become a valuable resource. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this idea.

Unfortunately, we’ve discovered that there is no such thing as a good pool service that isnt done by the homeowner. TFP is dedicated to teaching pool owners how to care for their own pool through daily testing and maintainance. It would be prohibitively expensive to hire someone to do that.

+1 on this.

While a site with reputable pool services could be beneficial to some, it should be completely separate and not associated with TFP otherwise it could muddy the waters and give conflicting advice to what TFP teaches.

Someone suggested local TFP “chapters” or something like that, where we could lean on each other for on-site help or things like vacation oversight. Sounded like a great idea to me. There are quite a few DFW area TFP members. I’d love to see something like that get traction.

that would be great! i had asked earlier about something similar but i don't think that i worded it correctly. I had asked about trying to set up a forum where you could talk with someone local to you in case you needed an "eyes on" opinion.
Let me know if anything comes of this!!
