Pool Return Jets

I have a 50 x 20 in-ground rectangle pool with a return on every wall, each is about 4-5 ft. off the corner. The two skimmers are on the long walls, about 15 - 20 ft from the corners, diagonal from each other (Two drains in the deep end floor). I think the pressure is very good. Should those returns all be working together to move the water in a clockwise direction, or pointed to the nearest skimmer?

Also should I see the water bubbling on the surface or direct them so as I don't? Right now I have one or two pointed up another pointed down I cant see a pattern... Kind of Marty Feldman style.

Don't bubble water on the surface with your returns. It just raises your pH from aeration.

Toss some ping pong balls in the water and watch how they move and experiment with different return configurations.

The prevailing winds affect the flow of debris on the surface of the pool more than return direction does.
