Pool pump sizing for tiny pool

We’re currently building a 7x12x4’ deep inground ICF plunge pool. It’s only 2500 gallons, but I would still like to make everything as efficient as possible so I wanted to get a variable speed pump. I can only seem to find 1.5 hp+ variable speed pumps. From what I’ve read, that is too much for such a small pool. I realize I can run it on the lowest setting, but not sure if it’s better to get the 1.5 hp VS pump and run it on low speed or go with a 1hp single speed pump.

Also was planning on getting a 75 sq ft pentair cartridge filter. Does that seem right?

If it matters, the equipment will only be 15 ft away from the pool, but we are considering adding 1 solar panel which would be about 20 ft away and 15 ft up.

Welcome to TFP.

Get the VS pump. You will probably be running it at 1/2 HP or less.

Will you have a heater?

The larger the filter the less often you will need to clean it. The smaller the filter the more you will be cleaning it.
