Hi - just bought a home that has an inground pool. I'm not sure what these two things that shoulder the main valve are - We have 5 lights on the side of the pool, and at first i thought these were two more but i can't seem to find anyway to turn them on. Any help?

i wish the prior owner left the blueprints!

thanks,

Not a light. Looks like maybe a suction grate

Is your skimmer directly above? If so, that’s an intake in case your water level dips below the skimmer, you won’t suck air into the pump.

If not, I’m not sure. It’s not a light.

****EDIT. I see it’s on the bottom of your pool, not wall. That’s your main drain.***

Nice. I see a automatic pool cover too. The three valves at the suction side of your pump aren't marked from what I can tell but assuming one is the main drain and the others are a skimmer each, I'd close off the main drain vale to about 30% open and leave the skimmer valves the way they are to get optimum skimming on the surface. Can't see the pump but hopefully it's a vsp and doesn't need to run full throttle for efficiency. I think I spy a SWCG too although it's tucked away behind from the picture angle. The heater top portion can be rotated 180° so the display is easily accessible from the opposite end.

Do you have a SWG like Fusion Soft?

DuoClear combines the sanitizing effects and water clarity of Nature2 mineral technology with the convenience of automatic chlorine generation from Clearwater salt technology.

The Nature2 mineral-bed technology uses silver and copper to combat bacteria.

The saltwater chlorinator component automatically produces low levels of chlorine, eliminating the need to buy and store chlorine.

Together these two technologies create a low-maintenance, low-cost system for pool sanitizing, with water that feels soft and silky.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can Nature2 stain my pool?
No. With Nature2 minerals remain well below levels that might cause staining. In fact, Nature2 offers a "no-stain" guarantee.

It looks like copper and maybe silver stains.

Can you pull out the filter cartridges and show what they look like before and after cleaning?

Copper will show up in the filters as turquoise (blue/green) stains.

Silver is a brownish color and it usually shows up on plastics.

Iron is also brown, but silver is a different color than iron.

Below is probably silver stains.

I think we have the Pentair SWG IC40. I'll try dropping a few tablets of vit C and will check the pool filter
It looks like the whole system was recently redone for the property sale.

It looks like the pad was recently poured and some of the equipment was replaced.

The Automation is Jandy Aqualink, so the cell is probably Jandy.

The heater, pump and filter are Pentair and they look new.

The Pentair equipment has stickers with the manufacturing date on the sticker.

It's usually not good practice to mix equipment from different manufacturers especially a Variable speed pump and automation.
