Help please. New pool, just added salt. Pebble tec, Gunite pool, salt water, Hayward equipment. About 10,000 gallons. Trying to figure out how to setup the chlorinator. What should my target free chlorine be? I have a Taylor test kit and have been using pool math but it says ideal chlorine is 3-9. Pebble tech, Leslie’s, and Hayward all say 1-3. Why is pool math different?

Leslies and other pool chemical sellers aren't taking into effect that you're using CYA to stabilize your chlorine. What that means is if you have 5ppm of FC & CYA it is LESS harsh than 1ppm of Chlorine and 0 CYA. The CYA is a buffer. So you need to follow the FC/CYA chart (which PoolMath takes into consideration).
