Hello all. My pool has a Hayward LPWUS11100 pool light (Crystalogic 500W equivalent) that was installed by the builder. It has stopped working and my understanding is there is no choice but to replace it. I have a few questions:
- Can I replace this with a new Hayward fixture without running a new cord? It appears to have a cable disconnect at the light, but I just wanted to confirm if I can just unplug it and plug in a new fixture. I would be looking to either replace with the same model, or the LPLUS22100 (300W equivalent) because it seems the 500W equivalent that I have might not be made anymore. I was also considering replacing with a Hayward Colorlogic instead of Crystalogic if the same cable/plug could be used for that as well.
- Would I be better off finding a different brand of light? One that has been suggested to me is Blue Square Vivid 360 VLP2004-WT. They sell a retro plug kit that can be splice onto the existing cable to fit the new light. But this makes me a little nervous -- maybe it shouldn't. Anyone have experience with this equipment? Are there any safety issues with doing this splicing? Are there other options for replacement I should consider?
