Pool Light Conduit Question??

I am getting ready to install a new light fixture into an existing pool niche. Inside the niche there was no silicon plugging the hole opening to the conduit and when I pulled the old light wiring, the pool light wire was wet. Can I assume as long as the junction box is higher than the pool, it is ok for pool water to be in the conduit?? I've seen pictures of pool niches with silicon and other without anything plugging the opening? Make sense??

That's correct. It's common to have water in the conduit. In fact, I've never heard of a pool light setup where there isn't.

You will always get some kind of water. Pool, ground, condensation.. Water finds a way. I use duct seal aks potting compound. You can get it at any electrical or plumbing supply
