Hello,
I have a gunite pool in Michigan. Closed it on September 8. I am a hawk as far as leaks are concerned.
During the season, did a dye test and no leaks were apparent around skimmer and jets. With pump on overnight did not lose water. When it got cooler late in August noticed water loss (about 1/4 ' every 2 days). I cover with a solar cover every day and night. Did not still lose water with pump on.
After pool close, have been monitoring waster loss and may have lost a 1/4 inch over a week. The pool is tarped up and a leaf net over it.
Question:
1) Do you lose minor amounts of water with tarp on? It seems to be behaving like it did last year when I topped up a bit of water about 2 times before the rain and snow on the tarp raised the water level and stayed so through open in May this year
2) 3 years ago I had a problem with the hydrostatic valve where being new I was not monitoring and lost all water. The pool company replaced the valve. SO essentially in 1 month I lost all water 3 years ago. This is not close to what is happening now. I have read that valve problems result in a far greater loss than what I am experiencing.
3) The surface has got some cosmetic issues and the pool company has seen it many, many times and assured that it is cosmetic only.
4)Need I be concerned and have ot checked out when the weather is still good or just keep an eye out. How much loss is of concern a this stage
Thanks
