Pool Layout 1st Impression?

Hi, so after almost 14 long weeks waiting for plans & permit approval (agh I almost forgot we were building a pool!) we had our yard scrapped & the pool layout done today for our dig scheduled for Monday.

I'm curious to know what everyone's first impression was of their pool laid out? Did you think it was small? Did it turn out bigger once dug?

We measured and everything is right, but I guess I didn't take into account free form dimensions. It just looks so smaller (narrower really) than I had envisioned.

Do you have the room to make it bigger? Get a large beach towel and put it down where you think it is narrow and see what you think then.

I have read a couple/few builds and some of them do say it seems small when it is painted out. They did just like you did and broke on the measuring tape to make sure it was really the correct size. When the dig was done they saw just how big it really was.

How did they lay it out? wood border or paint? Share a pic with us so we can see what you are working with.

We did the spray out for three months looking at the shape and Size and refining it...we also had the kids walk around in it with their pool toys (swim rings etc) and moved patio furniture around it to see what kind of furniture we could put in different areas of the deck. It helped us a lot.

FWIW, Kimkats is absolutely correct. I've seen lots of people say the same thing about how it seems small when dug but more normal after the shell is done.

Are you able to adjust the size if need be?

As Mothershipp stated, I also felt it was small as it was staked out, then during the shell stage it felt too deep, and now that is finished, it feels perfectly sized. As Brent has stated on previous threads, I wished I had spent the extra 5k for the additional decking/cage area. Pool size is something you can't add later so make sure you select the size you want based on seeing it live somewhere. As for deck, you can always add later.
