Pool foaming after using Alum

20x40 inground pool about 28k gallons. Starting up my pool after winter it was very green and lots of debris on the bottom. I cleaned up all the big leafs with a net and then shocked the heck out of it over a couple days using power powder plus. This turned the water milky white no more green. I ran the filter and it wasn’t really clearing up the white cloudiness so I used 16lbs of Alum and ran the pump for 2 hours thinking it will sink all the dead algae to the bottom so I can vacuum to waste. However after adding the Alum the surface has a layer of foam on it. Will this clear up as things start sinking? Should I try to scoop it out with a net or leave it for 12 hours? It is clearing the water as I can see the bottom of the pool between the foam which I could not see previously.

This is my first time using Alum so I’m not sure what to expect.

Aaah. We don't recommend flocculants here. They have to be handled very carefully to avoid messing up your pool's filter.

So - I can't really answer on the foaming. Sorry - hopefully someone else can jump in!
