Brian, i agree with you. Part of the problem is we don’t know what we don’t know. We have submitted photos of pools we like. It’s an iterative process. We are not starting from scratch each time.

I like this one much better. The only thing bugging me is the one rounded section on the spa. The rest of the pool is straight lined and geometrical. If you have the space to go one or two foot wider I would. Our pool is roughly 10x20 and if I had the choice of more width or length I would probably choose width. Mute point for us since we used every last bit of space we had and have very little deck as it is.

I guess it all depends on your yard space and setback requirements but if the pool is going to be that small, I’d ditch the spa entirely and have the pool closer to the house. Essentially make the pool part of the patio right off the entry way and hard-deck it all around. The pool is just an extension of the house and maybe you can get some better lines and transition as well as more pool area. Trying to do a small patio with a small pool in a small yard compromises all three and leaves you with too little of each.
