Pool controls question

Our indoor control panel broke and since we have a home warranty, it is covered and the service company will replace. Our spa side remote had stopped working earlier (yes, I missed it), so we asked the service company to do both and we would cover the extra expense. i however did not want the spa side as a hard wired remote, but a wireless one, and they can do it. They gave me two options and I am not sure which way to go and appreciate all the help I can get!

Option 1: Replace interior control panel, and add a handheld remote ($400 out of pocket expense for us)
Option 2: no indoor panel, access via wireless using a phone/other device - pentair screenlogic 2 for intellitouch (no chage to us, it costs way less than the replacement control panel)

thanks a lot!!

did you end up fixing your interior panel? it may be repairable, i replaced the lcd on one and the max485 chip (the thing that talks to the outside controller) on another

I like the screen logic app, but I have never had control panel. You can control your pool from anywhere you get a cell signal.

Some people like having the wireless remote for the spa since is is waterproof and your phone isn't.

Crek,

Afton is spot on...I have a remote that's waterproof but still used my phone while in the spa and it took a dip [100 degrees for about 3-4 seconds]. I later found out the old rice trick of putting your cell into a sm Tupperware filled w rice...it took out all the water overnight...my cell actually started cratering around 8pm from dropping it in around noon.. next morning, it was perfectly dry and has worked well ever since....good luck

PS - my 15 yr old daughter showed me this that was in trouble from day before...that next morning she got a pass :salut:
