My pool turned green a few weeks ago and I went through the SLAM process over multiple days to a week and my pool had crystal clear water and good chemical tests after two weeks. The water is starting to look cloudy again and I am seeing a dusting of particulates on the steps. FC=4.0, CC=0.5, PH=7.8, CYA=35/40 (depends on test), TA=80, Calc=200. Any thoughts?

Overnight Chlorine Loss Test.
Your cya is quite low for a swcg fed pool.
It is possible that at some point your fc went below minimum due to high uv exposure.
This may have been made back up at some point by the swcg inbetween your testing.
What percentage & how long are you running your cell?
If you need to do the
SLAM Process again which sounds likely,
its best to leave the cya where it is for now though.
You can increase it after passing all 3 end of slam criteria.

With visible algae, I'd start the slam now, and not wait for another day to do OCLT. The sooner you address it the better. Link-->SLAM Process
With the CYA test, always round up to the next 10. A Anything above 30 but below 40 is a 40.
To avoid this in the future, keep your FC at the top of the range for your CYA.
For CYA of 40, I would maintain an FC of 7 (top of the range) to avoid having it happen again, after you have a successful slam. This will allow for days that you have a higher FC demand with sun and swimmers.

Thank you for the reply. I started the SLAM process again. I knew my CYA was low and since I was slamming last week I did not want to add conditioner until I knew I was stable. We had a 100 degree day here in Kansas and another forecasted for tomorrow which is not helping.

Smart choice.
FC up to SLAM level is safe for pool, equipment, and humans. Run on the high side of range, or even above, until you can prove to yourself you can maintain FC. That allows you to learn, without repeated algae blooms.
Repeat slams are often algae that was hidden in plain sight that you missed last time. Ladder rails for example hold a gallon or two each of stagnant water with no circulation. Light niches, auto fills, all up in the skimmer, water features, stair/skimmer trim etc are also common hiding spots.
Go buck wild on an algae treasure hunt because as soon as the slam is over, they'll start reintroducing algae and it's only a matter of time to be back at square one.
