Hi All.
I posted once before and received great responses from you and I'm hoping for your great advice again.

The pool remodel has been scheduled since the the beginning of January and, it's finally starting. I'm going with Stonescape aqua blue mini pebble.

Today the plaster chip out crew finished, and a couple friends I sent the picture to said there is still too much plaster that needs to be removed.

Does this look normal to you, or should I ask for more removed?

My experience with this company hasn't been great so far. Lot's of no show appointments, etc., and I want to make sure the new surface lasts as it should.

Thank you!

When I had my pool resurfaced ten years ago they took all the old plaster off, with only gunite left showing. Here’s a link to a slide show showing the whole process, beginning to end.

Please, no comments about the tablet floater, that was pre TFP days, been using LC and MA for years now.

Did they use a water blaster? Mine was done with jack hammers and they got every bit of it. Left grooves in the gunite that I expect helped with adhesion. I've read here before that what you have is adequate, but personally I would want all of the old plaster gone.

@jimmythegreek, can you weigh in?

Thank you all so much! Your pictures confirm what others are saying. I brought it up to the contractor and he's very defensive and "will look at it".

At this point I'm ready going to cancel Friday's check and go with a well-known brand name pool remodeler. It will cost a little more, but I'll be able to sleep better.

Thank you all again. So stressful.

Go with your gut. The guy rolling his eyes today will be the same one claiming "Sorry, not my problem," years from now if his leftover plaster starts to cause problems. A full chip out is not unreasonable. If he's shortcutting during phase 1, how are you supposed to have confidence in the rest of the job?
