Hi all-
We are underway with our new fiberglass pool build and we got to thinking about mosquitoes. Yuck. Since the pool is fiberglass, it's sitting there partially filled, waiting for next steps. Any advice as to how we can control mosquitoes aside from putting dunks in the pool? (Concerned dunks / bits might lead to staining in stagnant water - we are many steps away from having equipment installed.)

I researched Amazon, saw solar pool ionizers (for a level of sanitation) and fountains (to create movement). Any thoughts on using either/both?

PS: Ignore the details in the signature - that's our old pool!!
Thank you!

Small amounts of dish soap will prevent the larvae from breathing. They can't get water surface tension to hold their little snorkels to the air and drown. For stock tanks, we used to use live bait minnows, but then you would have them to deal with unless you went fishing.

You can put a temporary sump pump with a T fitting to keep the water circulating and not stagnant. That's what my builder did and it kept the water moving around and agitated enough to prevent mosquitoes from lying the eggs. He tied a rope around the sump pump and put in a t fitting with pvc and then tied the rope to one of the beams supporting the pool inside which suspended the pump about way into the water. it kept the water constantly moving. You can also put it on a timer for say 12 hours so give it some off time. See the far left beam you can see the rope dangling. IMG_6966.jpeg
