I have patches and I have never had a problem with my Dolphin pulling them off.
I still LOVE my PB! I am always particular about lubing the power thingy and last year I wasn't so particular. My battery got fried. I called them and they took care of it for me. It took about a week turnaround time. My light turns green when it is finished charging as well. I also charge mine about once a month in the off season.
Thanks for the reply regarding using your robot with the patch still. I put my patch in just a couple weekends ago after coming home to a partially drained pool one day. The water was only about 52 degrees so I did it as a rush job, seeing that the pool store didn't have anyone to send out that weekend with a wet suit. I used the recommended glue (boxer 100), and an old piece of the original liner (so old that it is an obvious blue compared to the current white fade liner). It stopped the leak but the corners were flapping in the water like a flag on a windy day.
So the following day I drained the pool an additional foot out of the main drain on waste. I was really able to get into the water without instantly freezing and applied more glue to the edges of my patch that were not sealed down perfectly. I then squeegeed out the air and wrinkles, felt around the whole perimeter of the patch and none of the edge was loose or coming up. To my surprise the pool is holding water fine and I don't wanna mess with a good thing at least until the water gets a little more manageable to get back in temp wise. Water temps are still only 60 degrees up here, we are about a month behind because of the cold rainy spring we are having. If I need to reapply any glue I would prefer to turn the heater on and wait until its at least 80
Here are some pics of my patch, I'd love to wait until next year to spend the $5,000 on a replacement liner. Our season is so short and if the little pool blaster gives the piece of mind that it won't pull up the edges of my patch I might still get it. It does kinda suck that we already bought the robot last year, I love that thing! If you guys look at the placement (sidewall and curved to floor) and size of my patch what do you think about a robot going over it, not sure how your patch is in comparison.

Currently I have just been brushing off the patch with the pool sweeper and using the annoying hose/skimmer vac pole to vacuum the everything but the patch.
