Originally had a 2.7 Hayward vs. The basket would never fill up. No bubbles . I Also , Rheem heater , jandy salt cell. I replaced the pump with a jandy 2.7 vs Basket will not fill up and I get bubbles in returns . I have a spa intake , two masters( one valve, not sure how it’s piped )and a vacuum . Each with their own pentair 2 way. 4 valves on intake returns - 4 jets in pool ( on one valve) , 3 bubblers each on there own valve ,a fall, spa return , and 6 spa jets on one valve . No matter the configuration I get bubbles, but not always and never on the 6 spa jets ( it’s the closets to the pump ) I have automation on the spa intake and spa jets , added when I replaced the pump . Whether I’m pulling off the spa , skimmer or main , always low basket fill . I also get bubbles in the spa main return but cannot visualize the bubblers or fountain . Pretty sure o rings are good and lubed . Main pump connection lubed, inspected and tight . Getting steady water from bleeder on filter no air . My pb is going bust and useless . The guy that replaced the pump and installed automation seems at a loss , said it could be the piping is too small to the intakes. Pretty sure it’s 2.5 to 2 at the pump . Wouldn’t the basket still fill with all intakes open and limited return? What can I do to figure out why basket will not fill and how to track down the bubbles ? I will gladly pay someone , i just feel like many of these guys are not true masters of the trade. My understanding is , If I pull off of the main the skimmer is out of the equation and vise versa. It doesn’t make sense .

It seems like you have a suction side leak. Can you isolate different components like skimmers, spa, or main drain so each run may be tested separately? Also inspect the pump and connections to the pump for leaks. You can run a hose slowly over the top which will temporarily block water from entering. Does your pump prime? If so, the leak may be in the piping coming to the pump and not the pump itself. With a pump lid leak, it is typically hard to prime.

Thanks for the response. It does it no matter the intake . Spa only , skimmer , vac or main .The odds off all of them having a leak seem unlikely . The bubbles will go away at times , then come back . When the pool was installed a couple months ago the pump basket didn’t fill all the way. No bubbles. The basket would almost fill while running on high but the psi would go very high . Installed a different pump and put the swc online . Basket still does not fill but this is when my bubbles started . I seemed to have isolated it to when the swc is on . The swc doesn’t fill up completely with water either. The fins are covered with water barely . The contractor is going out of business and no help. A pool guy mentioned that the piping could be to small and the pump not getting enough water and the pump basket is quite large . He didn’t have any remedy . However I feel the basket should fill up with all intakes open and limited discharge regardless ? It’s 2 inch and the main is aprox 35 feet from pump. I don’t lose water have ran 24 hours for week straight .
