My first time using polyquat 60 coincided with my first ammonia event shortly thereafter. Can there be a connection? I'm planning to redo the AA method soon (my first attempt in May was sabotaged for various reasons) but I don't want a repeat of the ammonia. Thank you

Polyquat-60 does not cause ammonia. The only cause of ammonia in a swimming pool is the breakdown of CYA by bacteria typically seen when a pool is allowed to go green. It is possible in a clear swimming pool as well. The usual cause is when the FC gets too low and bacteria starts to take hold in the water. The presence of PQ-60 is merely coincidental.
