I recently purchased a Polaris turtle 66 vacuum for my above ground 24/52 pool and the return we have is an eye type that doesn’t fit the return. We have not been able to find or make a coupling. It appears to be a 1 3/4 x 1 1/2 which seems odd. Has anyone had this issue. What did you do? I am thinking only option is to drain water down and put in different return. Any help is appreciated.

If it's a vinyl side pool and warm enough to get in, you can simply hold a large bowl over the opening to cut out and replace the fitting, many here have done it and works like a charm!

Not sure I am following. Are you saying hold the bold to keep from losing water while changing out the fitting to a bigger size? Also issue is we need a threaded fitting as ours isn’t. So much for being universal lol. I wasn’t sure when you said cut. It is one of the vinyl pools. Luxor I think.

Yes from inside, you can push a large bowl over the opening to help slow the loss of water :)
Meant bowl. Also I am being told hook yo skimmer by some and hook to return by others. What is the norm. Thanks.
Can you share a picture of your vacuum cleaner? Some use the suction, some use the force of the return. We can help you verify
