Esteemed Members of the Forum,
My parents have a pool and bought a Polaris 9650 about 4 years ago. Last year the robot broke while still under warranty and they replaced one of the motors and the power cord, but the unit is no longer under warranty (nor would the warranty cover what I'm about to mention). Last week while the Lawn Man was out he accidentally cut the floating cable completely in two. Dad wants to just splice the cord back together as splice would (theoretically) remain dry and not have to be in the pool. I am not a fan of this and think at a minimum the cord should be replaced. Mom wants to replace the entire robot with one that is lighter (I had mentioned earlier this year when her robot went out that I believe Dolphin had some lighter models that we could get). If we do replace the cord is it something a regular person can do, or does it need to be done by a professional?
