Hi. We went out of town for 2 weeks. Intended to remove timers on both Polaris 280 and pool so there was no chance of water evaporation (Houston heat) and pump running dry. Turns out my husband removed the "off" timer on the Polaris instead of the"on". So, it ran for the entire time without the pool running. Came home and Polaris motor comes on but the Polaris does not move. Read a little bit about back draw so is it move likely that there is dirt/crud inside the Polaris or did we wear out the wheel bearings. The wheels are not turning. Any input is appreciated.

If the booster pump ran that long without the filter pump running as well, it is very likely too damaged to move water. Polaris needs waterflow to move, so the issue shouldn't be in the cleaner itself. Very possible the screen is clogged with parts of the booster pump.
Back draw?

If the booster was fully primed, it can continue to operate with the main pump off.

It will pull in water from the system, which will draw in water from the returns and from the suctions.

Hard to tell exactly what the issue it.

Maybe debris from the returns got into the impeller or maybe the screen is clogged or maybe the backup valve is damaged etc.

Can you verify flow?
