Plumbing transition 2" to 1-1/2"

I'm running 2" return and supply lines (PVC) from my equipment pad ,

Pentair Pool Products PNCC0150OP2160 Clean & Clean 150 Sq. Ft. Cartridge Filter, to my 12 x 24 Intex Pool. The connection to the pump is 1-1/2". How long should the transition from 2" to 1-1/2" be at the pump to avoid any flow problems? I will run 2" to the three-way valves at the pool and 1-1/2 " from the three-way valves to the pool connections.

Most people just use the short adapters which are 1-1/2' threads on one side and 2" slip on the other. Easier to find in pool supply places than plumbing supply.

No need for a 12" - 18" run up to the pump? Just 2" to the adapter then into the pump?
