New to this forum - hoping someone can assist. We are new to owning a pool - had our pool opened and closed by a professional company for the last 2 seasons. On opening, we always noticed a drop in the water and suspected a leak, but a few weeks in we did not notice a significant amount of water loss, until this year...We had the pool opened, and also had them inspect a Spek pump which is in an alternate location to our main pump (both are indoors, one is in the basement of our house, the other in a pool shed). Over the last 24 hrs, we've probably lost around 3-4 inches of water. I read a few posts on here, and tried using some dye to see if I could find the problem. The pics attached show what I was able to find...
Some details:
I have not run the pool filter today at all -as I wanted to determine how much water we were losing, and if it would stop above/below the skim box, light etc - So, we are losing water, without running the filter. I know we are losing water with it on as well, as the level had dropped when we were running the filter over the weekend.
When the service men opened the pool, I asked them to see if they could get the Spek pump working (the previous owners had advised that the pump was faulty and they had not run it in years) - when checked, primed and run, the pumps work, but they suggested replacing the motor as it worked intermittently). I'm fine with us just not running or using this Spek pump if it is the problem - as it runs off a separate motor in the pool shed, and we had run the pool for two seasons without it. (was just a fun nice to have - but has caused me a lot of stress, AND water loss!!)
Note: Pics taken with pool filter OFF - dye placed in water and appeared to travel towards the Spek jets...
Can we just plug these two pumps to see if that is the problem? If so, advice on how to do that would be greatly appreciated.
