Pipping size

I am redoing the pool plumbing. The skimmer and main drain are coming in at 1.5" pipe while the spa intake is 2".

Whats the correct way to move from the 1.5 to 2" above ground plumbing? Do I put a coupler right away or something else before the pump.

I might be over thinking this, but I want to do all this right the first time.

Use a 3 way valve that is 1 1/2" slip x 2". You can slip 1 1/2" into the valve and come out with 2" fitted over the valve.
