Hello all quick question on water bottles in the skimmers.. where exactly am I putting those and what is that doing for me? Lost power this morning was hoping it would be back on before needing to drain, not the case saw frost developing so , turned off power and pulled all the drain plugs on filter and both pumps so think I am good there, going to leave it this way since rolling blackouts.. don't want this to hit at 2am. Anyway I just saw the note on water bottles and I had not done that.

Welcome! Put the bottle(s) in the skimmer. They help to absorb the expansion of ice that may try to freeze in the skimmer.

I'm in Central Texas as well. Drained/covered/shutdown equipment a day ago when the power went out, now have a sheet of ice over pool. Water in the skimmer is not frozen. Curious about the water bottle technique as well!
