You'll need some way to shut off the water for when you have to open the pump basket or filter...just a 2-way valve before the pump and after the last thing in line should do it.

Make sure you have room to work down there!

Mine is below te water level quite a bit. We had a long run to put it under te "lean to" on the back of the detached garage. I figured keeping it out of the elements was a good thing. We have valves before the pump so we can service the pump and basket.

Our PB's masonry team started today - they're focusing on the pool cover railing.

That looks like enough space, but not a whole lot to spare. Most of the time spent down there will be cleaning out the pump basket, cleaning filters, etc. How often depends on how much junk gets in the pool!
